122/365 Backlighting Take Three...

My third attempt at my backlighting homework. Thank goodness the teacher extended the due date, because this kind of photo is just not my strong point!

Izzy got a bit interested in what Lily and I were doing. I also found out today that if Lily gets to hold the chocolate, or eat it while I am photographing her, things go much more smoothly. I think that's why the dog is sniffing her mouth--there's a chocolate in there!

121/365 One third

I am one third of the way through my 365 project! For the past two weeks, I have thought about dropping it--there is so much going on in the spring. But, I'm going to try to stick it out!

I am taking a class in natural light photography and I have to admit, I have learned much more through the class than I have by taking a photo every day! (Today's photo is not a fine example of my learning!)

My kids are just so over being photographed. No amount of money, chocolate, extra screen time or other bribes seem to work anymore. I am thinking about bribing my friends kids next.

120/365 Pout

I have to laugh at how pathetic my first attempt at a backlit photo is. Not only is the focus and exposure bad, I just crack up looking at Lily's little pout. She did NOT want to sit for this photo (and I had even offered her a piece of her Easter candy!)

The reason I haven't been blogging...

Joey ornament 2

First...we gutted our kitchen and I've spent most of my "extra" time sweeping, mopping and trying to make dinner without a stove. No, Christmas time is NOT a good time to rehab your kitchen, but it sure is a great gift to ourselves!

The night before everything came down, I let the kids draw all over the walls. Mostly, they just wrote notes to the contractor, who is starting to feel like part of the family....

Second, I got a new camera and I'm having quite a difficult time learning to use it! (It's another perfect gift though!)

Friends

I took some photos of friends the other day and this photo of this beautiful young lady is probably one of my favorites!

Project 2010--New York Photos

Over three months ago, Rob and I went to New York City with our friends Juan and Mari.

Rob Mari and Juan

It was one of those "perfect" trips where everything went so well--except for one thing--my photos. I took lots of photos, but I don't like most of them. I guess I feel that the photos just didn't capture how nice our trip really was.

So my next project for 2010 is to take another look at my NYC photos and see if I can't edit and crop and re-think them in order to make a small memory book for our friends Juan and Mari.

Our MLK Tradition

Every year on Martin Luther King Day, we go bowling as a family. I would love to do some service oriented family project on this day, but the kids start looking forward to this annual outing as soon as Christmas is over. Maybe we should go bowling more often.

I'm taking a photography class and our assignment this week is to capture something that is moving (without any blur). I thought our bowling outing would be a good opportunity to snap some shots for this assignment.

I wasn't very successful with the "no blur" part of the assignment, but it was still fun to snap a few photos of my kids in motion!

Sam "helping" Lily--he was very sweet as he walked her through the process of pushing the ball down the alley, but he actually ended up doing all the work for her.

Sam's bowling style was a bit frightening...he would drop the ball from about 2 feet up and about 2 feet behind the lane.

Sams ball drop

Miraculously, the ball always got to the end and knocked a few pins down!

Joey was the winner of the first game with a score of 120--way to go Joey! (A far cry from two years ago when Rob scored in the 200s!)

I Heart Faces---Crazy, Silly, Funny Face

This is my first attempt to enter a photo in the "I Heart Faces" weekly contest. The theme this week is Crazy, Silly, Funny Face. It's the first time I really felt that I had a photo that captures the theme of the contest.

Check out some of the other photos at www.iheartfaces.com...they are lots of fun!
