Bunny slippers, ponies and Christmas delight

Reading Together

One morning I woke up to this adorable sight:

The book Shaoey and Dot is about how a little girl is found in a basket in China and later adopted by a family in the West.

Sammy's 4th Birthday

We celebrated Sam's 4th birthday twice this year: on the actual day of his birth as well as the following Sunday (with Grandma and Grandpa).

Sammy had pancakes the morning of his birthday.

And cake the night of his birthday

And, although he asked to have his cousins visit for a party, we had to cancel since we weren't sure if Lily's infection was still contagious or not. But we were still able to have a race car cake with Grandma and Grandpa!

Sammy received a cool truck blankie! Thanks Aunt Jen!

Happy 4th Birthday Sam!

Lily eating

Is it MRSA?

On Friday, we thought Lily had the chicken pox. On Monday, after waking up with what appeared to be a nasty sunburn, we discovered she has a staph infection--the same germ responsible for the deadly MRSA. Fortunately, Lily seems to be responding well to antibiotics (MRSA does not respond well to antibiotics). However, to keep her from scratching, the doctor devised these homemade "casts" (really just a few towels wrapped around her arms). But Lily won't let that stop her from eating. She's figured out a way to get the food from tray to mouth...
