It's Autumn, but it feels like August

Ahhh, the cool, crisp days of autumn--perfect for picking apples with the family. The day started off cool and foggy, but as it progressed, we peeled off layers of clothing as it got hotter and hotter. By the time we got to the apple orchard, it was HOT and the mosquitos were as big as bats and swarming like bees. (An eery similarity to our strawberry picking outing when Lily was attacked by a swarm of mosquitos and we actually ran away from them.) It was sort of an aerobic apple picking outing as we literally ran from variety to variety, swatting mosquitos all the way! But in the end the apples still tasted delicious!

A clue in the Duckies.com mystery

According to Sam..."Duckies.com is a place where you eat bread and sometimes chocolate milk."
I've tried slurring it all together (duckham, dom, etc.) to see if I come up with anything that sounds like a restaurant nearby. I mean, this is coming from a 4 year old who calls my crutches, CRUNCHES--which, by the way, is what I feel I am doing sometimes when I use them...

Duckies.com

WHAT is duckies.com? Can somebody enlighten me? Every day, after picking Joey up from school, Sammy asks if we can please go to duckies.com. It goes something like this

Sammy: Mom, can we go to duckies.com?

Mommy: "What is duckies.com?"

Sammy: "you know Mom, duckies.com."

Mommy: "no Sammy, I don't know. That doesn't help me. What is duckies.com?"

Joey (chiming in): "Duckies.com?" (said with older brother attitude and dripping with superiority)

My curiousity got the best of me, so today, I finally came home and typed d-u-c-k-i-e-s-.-c-o-m into the yahoo search line thinking "well maybe this is something that they advertise on PBS Kids." I felt a bit silly when the closest search found was "Iloveduckies.com"--an outfit that sells all manner of rubber duckies and then some. Clearly, this is NOT what he meant by Duckies.com. I still have no clue.

I'm thinking of changing the blog name to duckies.com.

Soccer Season!

There is about a month between the end of baseball season and the beginning of soccer season. We switch from the baseball bag with the bats and the gloves to the soccer bag with the ball and the shinguards. We also switch from the fine, gritty sand of the baseball field to the large chunks of mud from the soccer field.

This is Sammy's first year playing soccer and to say he is excited would be an understatement. He is thrilled and can not wait a whole week between games. Daddy is his coach this year!

Joey is in his third year of soccer and has decided that it's really cool to wear a sweat band.

We're Back!

I noticed that my last post was the day before my foot surgery. After that, I was too uncomfortable to sit at the computer for long periods of time to update the blog. Just when I was getting comfortable, we moved. Then, we decided to avoid all of the unpacking and get away for a short vacation. Upon our return, we found out that ATT had messed up our internet order and our service was just returned to us a week ago. I'm finally back and hope to update the blog with end of summer, vacation, back-to-school, etc. photos.

I will add them with appropriate dates, so if friends or family are checking for new photos, you may find some below this entry.
